Seager is a specialized buoy that uses hydrocyclones to separate microplastics from sea water. 

Microplastics are most commonly defined as synthetic organic polymer particles with a size smaller than 5 mm. In natural environments, plastic degradation is mostly triggered by temperature and UV radiation, and can take centuries. 

Plastics eventually break down, but are notoriously hard to recover outside lab environment
